The celebrations of Gaudiya Vaishnava of Bengal coincide with Holi and is even regarded as the origin of Holi.
It also symbolizes the undying love of Radha for Lord Krishna, and therefore Mathura is the heart of Holi festivities.
Very simply it signifies the end of winter and the onset of summer!
